A little bit of backwards progress

You guys were so helpful after I shared my first attempt at skating backwards. Some of the tips you gave me were bending my knees more, softer legs, and practice looking behind me, which I've been trying to do both ways. I've tried actually shifting my weight and lifting my feet a little but I still get spooked now and then. My main question today though is: what do you see me doing or not doing that is keeping me from bringing my feet closer together? I feel like my clunky progress with crossovers might be related, and that's the main reason I think I should figure it out. I'm aware I'm not thin, so I feel like I'm bringing my thighs together about as much as I can. I'm not sure what to fix :/ submitted by /u/Professional-Kick-83 [link] [comments]

I’ve been borrowing from our rink or using my kids’ Impala skates for the last two months. I felt pretty comfortable in those skates. I just got my VNLA Lunas in this week and HOLY COW. I felt like I was all over the rink on Friday. It almost felt like I was starting over lol. I even had my trucks tightened a bit because they came in quite loose. But I still feel a bit “wobbly”. I was wondering if I just need to retrain with the looser trucks and just get used to them or if I should tighten them a bit more until I’m used to my skates. Thanks in advance!! submitted by /u/rollercoaster182 [link] [comments]

After posting a while back about a new skate bag, I pulled the trigger on the Triple 8 bag. Mainly because it states it's a carry on size. First impressions are good! It has 2 compartments, one on each side. I'm a size 11 and my 297's fit nicely on one side. 130's on the other. Still left a small compartment and a thin but full back width and height compartment for tools, wheels, etc. This bag is geared towards derby skaters but works really well for us rhythm skaters with extras. submitted by /u/Glum_Palpitation104 [link] [comments]

I’m buying my first pair of skates after going to the rink several times for my kids birthdays. I want to start going to the tennis courts at my local school and I also have a nice sized shop that I want to practice in. I’m planning to buy these but the size chart says I should order a 7? I wear a 10.5 US shoe so this just seems weird to me but I measured my heel to my toe and I got almost exactly 10” so am I just caught up in standard shoe sizing? I’m only questioning it because when I go to the rink I wear the same size as my shoe (or a little bigger). submitted by /u/RetroOneLove [link] [comments]

I just got in some Bont Glow LED light up wheels and installed them on my skates. They seemed pretty nice at first, but once I put them on my skates I realized the plastic piece that is the part that actually lights up doesn’t seem to spin as smoothly as the metal ones that were in my original wheels. Has anyone else run in to this issue? How can I make them spin faster/smoother? I loosened the nut as much as I could without destabilizing the wheels, but it doesn’t seem to help. I’m going to try adding a little lubrication tonight to see if that helps, but any other tips are welcome! submitted by /u/TenderOrchid [link] [comments]

I am looking to upgrade my skates for a more quality pair as my current pair are starting to become uncomfortable when I skate longer than an hour. I have been eyeing these two Riedell sets for quite sometime now, but im just not sure which one I should buy. Unfortunately there are no skate shops near me that have these on hand so I am unable to try them on or see what they look like in person. My question is which of the two is the better buy or can someone give me a list of differences/ pros and cons of each pair other than the price? (If you own a pair of one of these sets, I would also like to see pictures of how they look on feet as Google and YouTube have not been helpful as far as pictures and video reviews.) Thanks :) submitted by /u/Commercial_Issue_723 [link] [comments]

Hi friends! I used to wear Jackson Finesse Viper in a size 8. I just got a new pair of Bont Parkstars. I wear a US women’s 8. I ordered both the 5.5 & 6 on Amazon. So 6 felt loose and like my foot was sliding forward but 5.5 feels almost too perfect/ borderline tight and length is where my toes almost touch. My question is Do Bonts break in? Do you think I should stay with the 5.5 just right/ almost right or 6 that are “loose”? submitted by /u/sjwish [link] [comments]

Riedell heel lifting??

So I just got my roller skates in April.. and I mean like only 3.5 weeks ago. I ended up going with a pair of Riedell skates as they were talked pretty highly of and seemed like they would work well for the light outdoor skating I intended to use them for. I noticed yesterday after skating that the heel seems to be lifting and I am really upset because I haven’t used them super hard in the short 3.5 weeks I have had them.. and upon reading their warranty statement, I am not sure they will do anything to resolve the issue. Does this look like the start of a more serious issue with the quality of the skates? I’m wondering if I should reach out to Riedell or if this is normal after this short amount of time. Does anyone have experience with Riedell customer service? Skates are expensive and I am just hoping they’ll resolve the issue if it will end in my skates being ruined because I don’t want to skate on them and make it worse or risk getting injured because health care is even more expensive than the skates. I’m also curious as to whether this is common with Riedell and if I should have gone with a better skate? I don’t want to do any little at home fixes because honestly, for the price that you pay for roller skates, I don’t feel like I should have to even think about that after less than a month of owning them and lightly using them. Super frustrated. TIA! submitted by /u/Majestic-Class-7480 [link] [comments]

panic-bought these Candi Girl skates at the beginning of the pandemic. They got moderate use for a month, two years in storage, moderate to heavy use for the last two years. Now the boots pulling up ???? I live in Colorado if anyone has any recommendations for places to get them fixed at. I tried Skate Ratz in Loveland but they recommended a shoe repair place. I'm going to start calling around later today, but I wanted to see, anyone have experience with this? Any advice/estimated cost/should I just buy new skates would be much appreciated! submitted by /u/rozandro [link] [comments]
